It turns out tiny diamonds are not a girl's best friend, or at least not this woman's.

In a ring shaming group on popular community chat app Reddit, a woman shared a picture of her hand wearing the ring she got from her partner with a caption that read, "We've been together for 8 years and talking about getting married for 3".

"This [is] the ring he saved up to buy for me [...]".

She then goes on to ask fellow app users whether or not it'd be "shady" or materialistic for her to tell him that she does not want it. See her ring below.

Many users were divided on whether or not the woman should be considered ungrateful or not while others simply laughed. Here are some of their comments.

"If that wasn’t the best he could do - well, that’s a flag - why would you marry somebody who didn’t put much effort into ensuring your happiness?"

Another user actually liked the ring, and said that she would not mind getting it at all.

"It’s pretty, and I like it, but she’s the one who has to wear it. If that was the best he could do, then just smile and get a promise to be able to trade up later," the user wrote.

While this clever man clarified that he had allowed his partner to choose her own ring which saved him tons of stress.

"This is why I let my wife pick her own ring. Granted that decision ended up costing me $35k (around R 520 000), but she has never complained."

Well R520k is a bit over the top, but we think he made a great decision.

What do you think? Should she let her partner know of her disappointment, or just keep the ring and fake her happiness?
