We have been seeing the no-make up trend from our favourite celebrities, from Alicia Keys who posed for the cover of her album, Here, with no make-up in 2016 and then later announced that she has gone makeup-free indefinitely.

We cheered her on and started seeing other celebrities rocking up on red carpets with no make-up, including the likes of Shailene Woodley and Ellen Page.

Meet two South African brides who joined the Nimue skin Technology 12-week no-make-up challenge, Sheri Neil and Cleo Le Roux. Sheri recently walked down the isle with no foundation.

When asked why she chose to be a part of this challenge she said, “As I was busy browsing one of the bridal websites, I saw the Nimue No Makeup Bride competition, and thought wow, I would love to have flawless skin for my wedding day. I entered just in time and I guess we can say that it was meant to be, as my bridesmaid and best friend constantly asked me when I will be starting facial treatments? I was super blessed and excited to be selected. My skin is now looking flawless and this is the biggest prize I've won so far!”

With all the pressures women face when it comes to beauty, it was important that the brides drive the message across to other women that they can be themselves every day, even on their big day.

Cleo joined the challenge in 2017 and shared her reason for joining, "I initially entered the competition to win free skin care leading up to my wedding but then I found out it was a “No Makeup Bride” competition. The idea intrigued me. The idea of inspiring women to be comfortable in their own skin while I learn to be comfortable in my own sold me.

In preparing to have their big day foundation free, Sheri and Cleo had a skin care routine that they followed which included using a Cleansing Gel, Conditioner, Day and Night moisturiser and sunscreen as their daily routine. Every second day, they treated their skin with the and Exfoliating Enzyme.

Both brides walked down the aisle wearing only eye and lip make-up but no foundation after achieving flawless, radiant skin before their big day.

Sheri and Cleo are hoping the outcome will be that more ladies will feel confident in their skin and can walk out into the world foundation-free, as many people have mentioned to them that they can’t believe they now doesn’t wear foundation every day and how they wish they could do the same.
