Céline Dion's turned 51 and it's only the beginning of her journey as one of fashion's most important icons
Since The Power of Love days, and possibly before, Céline Dion has been rigorously engaged in fashion.
At 25 already, around the time she claimed international superstardom as a singer, Céline – in an interview with U.S talk show Today – expressed her love for fashion when she listed clothes as one of the most important things in her life.
She’s always daring, brings the drama with her fashion and maintains she does what is pleasing to her: “I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine, fierce and sexy… people won’t like everything but if I like [it] I don’t want to talk about it,” she tells Dan Wootton on the Lorraine show.
Céline says she has a team of stylists including her best friend, former professional dancer Pepe Muñoz, who “has played a big role” in styling her and celebrity stylists Law Roach and Sydney Lopez.
Her style has been referred to as iconic and as couture’s unexpected fashion darling, one of her early looks that really made a statement was her 1993 Grammy’s dress. Before Rihanna wore the sheer Adam Selman crystal dress and before Amber Rose’s chain-link number, Céline Dion wore a black see-through knitted dress wearing nothing but a thong underneath.
At the 1999 Oscars, Céline sported this all-white men’s suit by John Galliano for Dior. Plot twist, she wore the blazer backwards. Unforgettable, rule-breaking and ahead of its time were all the terms used to describe this look. Today we would say the combos are communicating.
This Roberto Cavalli floral three-piece suit was one of Céline’s stunner outfits, and obviously a bold statement.
Céline Dion and drama might as well be synonymous at this point because this Canadian singer knows how to bring it. In another all-white ensemble – this time designed by Ralph & Russo and accessorised with a wide-brimmed hat, white-framed sunglasses and white handbag – Céline was a vision in Paris.
In head-to-toe grey snake print styled by Law Roach (again, the combos!).
This is when the elevator pitch is your outfit. It's clear hear sis'Céline is all about the fashion.
This Maison Rabih Kayrouz yellow suit almost broke the internet. Most captivating is Céline's pose.
Brace yourselves, winter is coming: take note of this coat inspo ahead of the cold weather. Colourful winter fashion may be the trend to follow.
Is it a windbreaker or is it a dress? Is it a blazer or is it a chunky knit cardigan? It doesn't matter because once again Céline pushes the boundaries in head-to-toe Maison Margiela.
At the 2017 Billboard Music Awards the French singer took the stage in this Stephane Rolland dress to sing My Heart Will Go On from the Titanic soundtrack, in honour of the movie's 20th anniversary.
With perfectly sculptured shoulders, impeccable metallic detail and the best shade of white, this look impressed many people. It's been sketched by artists and even made into a figure doll by Vanio Tomé.
