Evan Rachel Wood wore a suit to the Globes - the reason was golden

Although some of world’s most powerful fashion designers have, for many years, been blurring gender lines on the runway, Hollywood’s red carpets have been slow to follow suit.

The 74th annual Golden Globe Awards proved that gowns aren't the only red carpet option.

Evan Rachel Wood, Octavia Spencer and Kathryn Hahn all ditched the traditional gown, opting for beautifully tailored suits. They all looked fantastic, but Evan Rachel Wood’s message behind her outfit made it truly wonderful.

As reported by NY Mag, the Westworld star commented: “I’ve been to the Globes six times. I’ve worn a dress every time. And I love dresses. I’m not trying to protest dresses. But I want to make sure that young girls and women know they aren’t a requirement and that you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to. Just be yourself, because your worth is more than that.”

Although nominated for best actress in a TV series, Rachel didn’t walk away with an award tonight, but we salute her for using her national platform to show young girls that they can defy gender norms and set their own beauty standards.
