Will this be 2017's red carpet “naked dress”?

accreditation

Seems that the "naked dress" has been redefined by Vogue as the chain-mail dress. And it might just be the biggest, baddest celeb red carpet trend of 2017.

In 2016, such was the case when both the First Lady and Vogue cover girl and 'It' girl extraordinaire, Kendall Jenner, sported chain-mail dresses.

Mrs. Obama opted for a more modest rosy, custom-made Atelier Versace gown while Jenner’s dress, obviously also custom, was a silvery metal mesh inspired by Paris Hilton's 21st-birthday dress.

Though different in style, both ensembles set in motion the trend of chain-mail fashion that’s taken hold of celebrity style —and shows no signs of letting up in 2017.

Chain-mail numbers appeared at the Balmain Spring 2017 collection showing, where Olivier Rousteing showcased a finale of gold, silver, and bronze metallic eye-catchers.

And if the chain-mail trend was not already evident enough, post-Balmain show, Kim Kardashian West changed out of the “naked dress” she was wearing in the front row and into a chain-mail number for the after-party.

The style has become a hit with models too. Victoria's Secret Angels, Lais Ribeiro and Alanna Arrington, both wore chain-mail dresses to the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after party.

In December 2016, Lady Gaga wore a chain-mail inspired shimmering combination to perform on Saturday Night Live.

If you, like us, don’t want to miss out on these metal looks we recommend you start with a chain-mail top, it doesn’t have to be a full dress. And if you’re brave enough, make sure that you’re wearing the dress, and it’s not wearing you!
