Whether it was the fashion or the races, Africa's most lavish race day lived up to its legacy of world-class entertainment and a display of opulence.

The race boasts a R3 million prize on the primary race; hence it was curated to match the level of luxury that comes with it being known as Africa's Richest Race.

Curated by Sun International, the day was not as star-studded as we'd hoped, however, it featured some regular faces and much-appreciated surprises. The most notable being Bonang Matheba, who not only showed up looking as elegant as always, but she also unveiled the new limited edition Prestige Reserve from The House of BNG.

As the official celebration partner on the day, The House of BNG filled every flute on the racecourse. So, it's safe to say we'll be seeing many more pleasing surprises from the already loved novice in the alcohol industry.

Back to the fashion of the day, themed, African Luxury: Visionaries, the event saw exquisite interpretations of the patriotic theme.

Here are some of our favourite looks, including Bonang's second look:

Nandi Mbatha

The actress was well packaged in Rainard Lux by Quiteria Atelier. We loved the hair too.

Precious the Planner

The celebrity wedding planner came out looking ever so elegant in a navy gown by Nina Sedumedi Creations.

Linda Mtoba

Linda seems to be having a red-hot year so far. We last saw her in a memorable red Christmas gown, however, she may have gone one better with this ensemble by Orapeleng Modutle.

Sarah Langa and Kefilwe Mabote

Playing to the theme of the day, Sarah and Kefilwe were dressed by House of Fabrosanz.

Lauren Campbell

Lauren came out in a black Rainard Lux by Quiteria Atelier ensemble.

Rorisang Moeketsi and Gert-Johan Coetzee

Model Rorisang won a competition to be at The Sun Met and was dressed by Gert-Johan Coetzee.
