For many of us, our perspectives of what we need and want have changed as we face the Covid-19 pandemic. For instance, it is a valid question to ask yourself whether you need seven pyjama sets for each day of the week or not.

Previously you assembled your wardrobe to have enough trousers, shirts and dresses for a five-day work-week and two days’ worth of loungewear. However, life under lockdown has flipped the script. You now need seven days’ worth of loungewear if you are working or learning from home – and your oversized sleep shirts are, unfortunately, unlikely to last the whole week.
If you are doing business as usual and dressing up during the week as you once did before lockdown, congratulations to you, there’s one less problem on your plate! The same goes for those who are comfort-wear enthusiasts and have a wardrobe full of comfy pj’s and joggers to choose from.
For those us who find ourselves with the dearth of a comfy indoor strip to last a 24/7 rotation, if you will, need to gear up to stock up.

Since the national lockdown was imposed at the end of March, shopping for groceries was the order of the day. Now a glimmer of light is approaching in the form of 1 May 2020, where clothing businesses and customers will have more clarity on when purchases can be made.
As the President recently announced, South Africa is preparing to transition to an eased form of lockdown, which has provided a clearer picture of the selling and buying of winter clothing.
Under the Level four lockdown period, to begin on 1 May, winter clothing may be purchased from retail and e-commerce stores, as announced by the president.
One of the few things we can take comfort in during this worldwide crisis is having warm and comfortable loungewear for the time we will be spending at home.
There’s no question that during the coronavirus crisis, there’s no better time to shop local. So, if you find yourself short on snuggly jammies and soft fleeces, and can make these essential purchases while supporting small businesses, here is a list of local sleepwear and loungewear brands:
