Infinite Pieces creates custom-made neck and body jewellery made from a variety of materials unconventional to jewellery.

Anathi Lamoen (27) and Karabo Maape* (19) are the creatives behind the jewellery made from lace, plastic, denim, combined metals and sequins. Lamoen, the founder of the company and jewellery line, said she started designing jewellery as a hobby.

“It just started as something I did at home. Then I started looking for something to do that I could be passionate about,” Lamoen says.

She adds that she is the designer for Infinite Pieces, while Maape ensures the promotion of the brand.

The inspiration and values behind the Infinite Pieces brand is “the strength, courage, growth and transformation of a woman with purpose”, the young designer says. “We are inspired to always represent that as well as beautify our women.”

In their latest collection, Collection IV, the pair created jewellery that symbolises the evolution of women, just as their own business has evolved over the past year.

In a press release, Infinite Pieces explains: “We are celebrating the anniversary of our first year in business. We’ve advanced from handmade pieces to manufacturing a stunning new body of work; an evolution of our brand inspired by the infinite evolution of women.

“The pieces evolve from those that would most appeal to teens through to pieces for adult women,” Lamoen says.

Her favourite pieces in the collection are the large, chunky cross earrings.

“We played with stoning and pearls, and this particular chunky earring design is very fashionable at the moment,” she says, adding that they included the crosses in the collection to mark “our journey and evolution with God by our side”.

The collection of thick chokers – made from braided materials, lace and other materials – is definitely my favourite and would go brilliantly with a low-cut shirt or dress for a night out or even a formal event.

Lamoen says that not only is Infinite Pieces inspired by women’s courage, but it intends to encourage and empower young women to embody that strength. Through its Princess Park Girls Empowerment Programme, Infinite Pieces brings on a girl in matric every quarter to shadow the company and learn about running a small business. Maape started with Infinite Pieces by shadowing Lamoen and showed such potential that Lamoen included her as a business partner.
