Rosemary and Christina Alubankudi Ajiboye (24) from New York are inspiring people to love themselves with the help of their fashion blog.

The identical twins were born with albinism – a rare group of genetic disorders that cause the skin, hair or eyes to have little or no colour. It’s also associated with vision problems, according to Healthline.

The pair have poor eyesight and their skin is sensitive to light, which frustrates them at times, The Sun reports.

“We have really low vision and sometimes, even though we have glasses on, we can’t really see from far and people don’t understand that, and that’s a frustrating thing,” Rosemary explains.

“And you’ve just got to be aware of going outside and not staying in the sun too much, so you know how people go to the beach and they lie in the sun – we can’t do that at all.”

The twins, who’ve been obsessed with fashion since childhood, have completed their master’s degrees in global fashion enterprise and simply love working with clothes, they told Barcroft TV.

“I love fashion – I love dealing with clothing and accessories and dressing people and seeing how clothes would fit on someone,” Christina says.

Although the girls fully embrace their albinism they were constantly teased about it at school, they say.

“We would literally sit on our own; some people didn’t sit with us,” Rosemary recalls.

“We had a couple of friends that would sit up with us once in a while.

“Having albinism, it’s really hard when you’re growing up with it because at one point you don’t understand what it is, then you get to that stage and be like, ‘Oh my god, I’m different from other people.’ ”

It wasn’t until they started at university that the two started being more open-minded about their condition.

“I feel like college was a whole other ballgame – a whole other world that just opened our eyes to the fact that there are so many different people,” Rosemary says.

“It’s just so awesome because people really take you into consideration.”

The twins plan to start their own label to promote albinism in the fashion industry.

“There isn’t one type of beauty, there are multiple types of beauty. We have to showcase everything so that everybody can be confident,” Rosemary says.

“Beauty at the end of the day is your inner beauty, your attitude, your confidence.”
