Have you ever wished there was a way to avoid doing laundry?

If so, then this bit of news will make you very happy.

A Danish company has invented underwear that can be worn for weeks without washing it.

Sounds gross, right? But it’s actually been meticulously designed in conjunction with American space agency Nasa.

According to The Metro, Danish fashion brand Organic Basics has created their SilverTech 2.0 collection using a secret formula that apparently destroys 99, 99 percent of all bacteria and gets rid of unwanted odours in the process.

The anti-microbial silver used in the underwear is the same material Nasa uses to purify water on the International Space Station.

"Our Polygiene-treated underwear naturally rids itself of odour-causing bacteria and fungi, making it stay fresh for weeks," the company says.

"That means you can wear it more and wash it less."

The collection doesn’t only include underwear, but features socks and T-shirts too, writes Newshub.

But, Business Insider adds, Organic Basics isn’t out to encourage poor hygiene. Rather, it hopes to help the environment.

”Our business is sustainable fashion. The traditional way of buying, wearing, washing and throwing away overpriced underwear is terrible waste of resources. And it’s extremely harmful to the environment,” says Mads Fibiger (27), CEO and co-founder of Organic Basics.

The company has started a Kickstarter page to help raise sufficient funds to get the product launched.

The campaign has already gained 606 supporters and raised over £60 000 (R990 000).
