#MondayMotivation: 5 burning questions about leggings, answered

accreditation

For the last few years, these bottoms have received more hate than love.

Personally, I’ve questioned their place in fashion for the longest time and I’ve secretly asked myself questions like “should leggings die out?" "do leggings qualify as pants?" and "how should they be worn in 2018?”.

So where do they stand today?

1. Are leggings dead?

Not in this lifetime, and certainly not while Vogue is still reporting their public impressions on New York catwalks.

As far as Victoria Beckham and Alexander Wang’s Fall ‘18 collections are concerned, leggings are here to stay.

2. What are the best legging looks for autumn winter ‘18?

Wear your leggings with at least one outerwear piece.

A sweatshirt, or a vintage leather coat like Kim’s will do the trick, and perhaps a towel turban to seal the deal.

3. Textured leggings, yay or nay?

We’re right up in the late '80 and '90s glam so when it comes to your legging choices, the more texture, the better! Go wild for glossy metallics, sheer and velour.

Mesh leggings, Spree, R119.

4. Which prints should you try right now?

Start with daring animal prints, then throw in some camo, flowers and side stripes and you’re good to go.

Dakota detail leggings, Cotton On, R279.

Jersey leggings, H&M, R249.

Patterned leggings, H&M, R329.

Embroidered stirrup leggings, Superbalist, R399.

5. Leggings for the office?

So possible! Simply maintain a neutral look in a printless black or navy pair with a minimal lace inset, add a pretty blouse, a tailored jacket and your favourite heels and watch how you’ll pull this look off every single time.
