When Bella Hadid went sneaker shopping with Complex in 2017, we were amused by her textbook attempt at sneaker speak but we were also just as amused and impressed by her arsenal of kicks and just how much she's willing to spend on a pair.

Harpers Bazaar notes how in the video Bella was wearing a pair of "rare, customised Off-White x Air Jordan 1s" and proceeded to fork out over $1000 (over R14K) on eight new pairs of sneakers. At the time, the model already had 200 pairs of Nike sneakers.
Tracee Ellis Ross is another A-lister who took very enthusiastically to sneaker trends circa 2017/2018 and has been all about sensible footwear ever since.
The Black.ish star was trolled on social media (all in good humour) for her dad sneakers, which some called orthopedic shoes, but when she rocked a pair of Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers, we knew that she takes her sneaker game seriously.
And when professional makeup artist and founder of her namesake cosmetics brand Bobbi Brown, declared that she's ditching heels for sneakers all throughout 2019 for a good cause, it was further proof that sneakers are officially the most en vogue type of shoe right now.

Of course, sneakerheads have known this for a while now and we're only just properly catching up.
We have the rise and rise of the athleisure trend to thank for making kicks more of a staple in our lives. But also, their versatility speaks for itself and will far outlive any seasonal trend.
