Better known as cigarette pants, far too generous to be classified as Bermudas, yet too short to fall in the ankle grazer class, pedal pushers are coming back.
According to Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, capri pants were a major fashion statement in the late nineties; and were again revived at the recent Chanel 2019 resort collection.
Back here at home, however, while we are jamming to Distruction Boyz’s Midnight starring, it appears that Busiswa, who sings about the knee-ka-bok already had an inkling that this trend is coming back.
So, if you foresee this trousers trend looking good on you, here are three ways to make these extended bike shorts your thing this season.
Since a glossy pair of slippers is well out of the question at this point in time, a burgundy pair of cankle (calf ankle) boots will be the perfect stand in.
On a different day, a full throwback tribute to the fifties will always get the nod, so throw in a pair of golden hoops, a head scarf and retro shades.
Day 13 of the #thevintagefashionchallenge everthing else Pastels! The pink pedal pushers and mustard yellow scarf are from the collection of Keely Smith, an incredibly talented singer from the 1950s and 60s. One of my favorite songs of hers is “That Old Black Magic.” This shot was taken by the wonderful @christopherbonomo , for a #matchaccessories promo about a year ago. Side note about the location: apparently you can no longer shoot there… glad we got this when we did! #vintagefashion #palmspringslife #pedalpushers #1950sfashion #headscarf #cateyesunglasses #1950sstyle
