From Betty Boop to Yayoi Kusama, polka dots have featured in everything from fashion to art over the years. And every few years they're reimagined in how we choose to wear this classic pattern.

Here are some of the most recent polka dots sightings...

On bags

Accessories featuring polka dots are big right now. Wear them with a power suit of a solid colour for them to really pop.

(Also, these shoes!)

And they're a great add-on for those who are not sure about going all dotty.

On skirts

Digging satin skirts at the moment, so hoping to find one with polka dots for sure. Because this is such a classic print, it could easily be worn with other, similarly classic prints.

Or if you're not ready for print on print, go for a simple tee, add a blazer and some heels...

On dresses

But the most classic way we've seen polka dots are on dresses. Go full on this spring and accessorise your look with playful earrings and flats. I vote for fruit or floral inspired jewels for the ultimate spring fling.

And, much like donuts, polka dots also come in a variety. The one that I think looks very sophisticated is the brown and white version of this print. This jumpsuit worn with a trench is très chic.

Oooh, love it.
