We're officially in autumn, winter is around the corner and the Chanel style tweed has arrived just on time.
The tweed look has come a long way since its humble beginnings from its Scottish heritage. Thanks to Coco Chanel, it didn’t really become a ‘look’ until she introduced a unique version to luxury fashion way back in the 1920s – and has since been associated with the brand.
From Chanel’s classic tweed look to the more traditional aesthetic of the Scots, today there have been a number of interpretations of the tweed look on and off the runway.

More specifically, taking a look at the autumn/winter '19/'20 collections. Chanel’s bulky tweed in houndstooth, checked patterns and the iconic speckled look is one that will keep you warm and well-put together until spring hits. And between the more deconstructed luxury look Balmain showed and Victoria Beckham’s British lady aesthetic, there’s more than enough winter inspiration to draw from.

The trend has already been picked up in SA as seen on Mihlali Ndamase in this black and white sleeveless blazer dress.

While not forgetting Khanya Mkangisa, in this pink and white matching two piece.
Internationally, fashion royalty Anna Wintour rocked the trend herself during Paris Fashion Week.
