They are alien, surreal and might give you a very eerie and uncomfortable feeling.

The shoes look like an extension of the human foot in a high heel silhouette and have a horn like shape at the back of the leg just above the ankle area.

Hannah and Steven are all about disrupting the status quo and “provoking humanity”. In an interview with Vogue, the pair said they had initially made these images with Photoshop but decided to replicate them in real life.

“The shoe is like when you are going to Chanel to get a wedding dress. You get the fittings and the customisations. For even me to get the shoe, I have to stand and each of my legs have to be perfectly moulded,” Hannah tells Vogue.

“We started Fecal Matter in order to challenge censorship. We wanted a platform that would enable us to express ourselves freely without any limitations. Honesty is our main objective. We hope to promote the truth; the truth about the fashion industry, the human experience, and our reality.

“We want to provoke Instagram and all of its conformist ways,” Steven tells i-D.

While all these images are all clearly out of the norm, they do ring a bell with a 2010 Lady Gaga and her meat dress, but most recently, with Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian’s body modification accessories for Simon Huck’s A.Human exhibition.

Hannah and Steven have started selling for their otherworldly heels and they do not come cheap. The price tag is $10,000 (about R 148 337).
