A new fashion statement bag is born, the world's tiniest bag and it’s dividing the internet.

French label Jacquemus sent models down the runway during Paris Fashion Week carrying itty bity bags, and by that we mean almost invisible.

American TV show website Today even asked the question: “What is this… a bag for ants”?

According to the show, the handbags will cost you $500 (around R7 000) depending on the design.

The designer Jacquemus is taking the new wave of minimalism and running with it all the way.

Those of us who are still holding a grudge over our most impracticable clutch bags that only hold our lipsticks, phones and keys are clearly in trouble.

The micro bags are so tiny that we can't imagine putting anything in them. In fact, the handle hooks over just one finger.

It’s almost like wearing your handbag the way you’d wear a ring.

Now, mini iterations have been dominating the runways for a while now, and we are trying to get used to travelling light, but are these mini bags practical at all?

Do you use the luxury microscopic bag to carry a hair pin?

The bags however are a tiny version of Jacquemus’ bestseller, the Le Sac Chiquito which ranges from $345 (around R5 000) to $795 (around R11 000).

We’ve seen celebrities like Rihanna and Kendall Jenner wearing the Le Sac Chiquito, and we wouldn't be surprised to see them carrying around the mini version very soon.
