Every year fashion's creatives add a new twist to ankle boots. Whether it's revamped with a thicker heel, a pointier shape, side zips or even made skintight, it's ever-evolving.
Dior did it first with their patent see-through thigh-high stompers made so tight they may as well have been stockings.
But this sock and ankle boots hybrid hit the big time when Vetements recently popularised it with their literal interpretation by using actual socks and a BIC lighter-like heel.
And there's a multitude of sock boot variations you can add to your shoe arsenal: from suede, to velvet, to party-ready glitter boots.
Here's how to play around with this trend:
Just because the sun is still making a guest appearance in your city every now and then doesn't mean you have to wait to pull out those statement boots. Channel Kim K by showing off your legs in a short dress or skirt and pair it with sock boots in a similar colour.
A contrasting heel also works...
The usual trend has always been tucking your denims into your boots, but with sock boots it just makes better sartorial sense to rock out in ankle grazers, boyfriend or flared jeans.
Yay for boots you can finally wear with regular cropped pants because it was starting to get kinda awkward. So why not channel Solange in cropped pants and a toe-capped pair of sock boots?
Even if you're not heading out to a lit evening soiree, you can still do the most with glitter finish sock boots as part of a day wear look.
