MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Have you popped into Levi’s Tailor Shop in Braamfontein?
It’s been open since last Friday and you’ve got three weeks left to take full advantage of what they have on offer. You can either take your Levi’s jacket or buy a new one for R599 and they will customise it for free.
They can paint, draw, dip and dye, add patches, cut, distress or stencil your denim to your heart’s content. If you go on a Saturday, local artists will be there to add their signature style to your jacket.
First up this weekend is Seth Pimentel (@african_ginger) who’ll be sharing his illustration know-how, then Sakhile Cebekhulu (@beingsash) to do screenprinting followed by Rina and Dimo of Rich Factory (@richfactory) who’ll be updating your jacket with African prints.
DON’T THROW IT AWAY
I love the brand but I'm an even bigger fan of MAC because when you return 6 empty containers of any of their products, you get a free lipstick.
We all need to be more socially and environmentally conscious especially when it comes to our shopping habits. More companies should be doing this so a big shout out to H&M and their ‘Bring it on’ campaign.
If you’ve already springcleaned your closet, take any clothing items - doesn’t matter what the brand is – and fabrics then take it to any of their stores. They’ll be re-used or recycled to create new garments or products.
SUPPORT LOCAL
I love a sock with a shoe or sandal especially when we transition through seasons. Falke has collaborated with Boys of Soweto to celebrate our heritage in an inspiring sock collection with pairs from between R120 and R150. They’ve threaded in details like South African urban references and cultural influences and iconography.
Check out our favourite #WCW featured in the campaign – Manthe Ribane and Kwena Baloyi, amongst other stylish faves.
Enjoy the weekend everyone and remember to shop responsibly!
