How would you describe yourself?

I’m a humble individual with an infectious and fun personality. I’m self-motivated, extremely hardworking, and reliable and I believe I work well with people.

What drew you to the media industry?

Growing up watching TV in my parent’s modest home, I’ve always wanted to do meaningful television work, something educational that would be highly beneficial to society. I get to be part of shaping a better future for others by providing them with vital knowledge on issues that matter the most to them.

What lesson have you learnt in the industry?

I’ve learnt that it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to get to the top with your pride and dignity intact to have a sustainable career. You need to work harder and not cut corners because at the end of the day, experience and growth is a valuable asset; people can spot the fakes quite fast.

What do you love most about being a news anchor?

I love the fact that I’m able to connect with people on their personal level through the news. I love that I’m at the helm of groundbreaking news, that I am constantly making history, interviewing the movers and shakers of our society.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by stories of hardworking people, especially women who refuse to conform to societal norms and stereotypes, women who never limit themselves. These are people that have beaten the worst odds to come up triumphant, who are fearless and still use that to change the lives of those around them for the better.

What would you consider your dream job?

My dream job would be running my very own news network, to tell real stories that often never make it to the mainstream.

What has been your career highlight?

I think my being here alone is a major milestone, but being chosen as the face of the SABC News Channel since it was started was the best. I want to believe that it had open numerous opportunities for me have been and that has been incredible.

If you had to move to another country where would you go and why?

I would love to stay in China; there are endless opportunities for growth as the next business capital of the world.

What’s your favourite pastime?

Spending time with my loved one is priceless. As a young woman I also enjoy shopping and my friends say I need prayer so that I can stop buying shoes! I suppose they were right when they said a woman can never have enough shoes and bags!

If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

I want to duplicate myself – that way I can reach out to all those who need my guidance, assistance, love and friendship!
