Bobby Brown: 'Whitney Houston was bisexual'

accreditation

Bobby Brown is convinced his late ex-wife Whitney Houston would still be alive if she didn't have to hide her relationship with her best friend Robyn Crawford.

Rumours about the superstar's sexuality circulated for several years prior to Whitney's death in 2012, with gossips suggesting she was bisexual and involved in a very private relationship with Robyn, who was also her assistant. The I Will Always Love You singer always denied the rumours, but Bobby is now confirming they were true.

"I know," he tells Us Weekly magazine. "We were married for 14 years. There are some things we talked about that were personal to us."

Bobby is sure Whitney kept the relationship hidden because her mother, Cissy Houston, would have been completely against it. In 2013, the 82-year-old told Oprah Winfrey she would not have accepted her daughter being gay or bisexual.

"I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney's life, Whitney would still be alive today," Brown adds.

Whitney accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub in 2012 with cocaine listed as a contributing factor in her death. The New Edition star recently opened up about the first time he saw Whitney using the drug just before their wedding in 1992. Brown also struggled with substance abuse during the pair's marriage, but he insists Whitney made her own choices when it came to her addiction issues.

"The drugs wasn't her (sic)," he told U.S. newswoman Robin Roberts during a 20/20 news special, which aired on Tuesday night (07Jun16) in America. "She did drugs but drugs didn't do her. She knew how to handle herself. It only made me love and want to protect her more."

"It wasn't me who started her (on drugs)," he added. "I take my part and I take it hard for me even being a part of it, but we all have our own minds and some of us are stronger than others."

Ironically, the former couple's only child, Bobbi Kristina, was also discovered unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home in January, 2015. She was taken to a nearby hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma, but she never regained consciousness and passed away in July (15), aged 22.
