Arbour uploaded a video to her YouTube and Facebook account, called ‘Dear Fat People’. The video is a verbal open letter to fat people and boils down to how she is sickened by their appearance and the fact that they are considered disabled.
The appalling video has recieved over 17 million views thus far on Facebook, and YouTube disabled her account three days after the video was posted.
According to CNN, YouTube temporarily shut down her account and Arbour received an email from Google warning her about violating its terms. Her channel has since been reactivated.
Arbour went onto Twitter and exclaimed that she is the first comedian in the history of YouTube to be censored.
In the video, the Canadian rants that fat-shaming is not a thing, but something fat people made up. She retells her experiences dealing with “The Fat Family” that annoyed her recently at an airport and mentions that the term “plus-size” stands for heart disease, knee problems, diabetes and your family and friends crying because they needed a Coke with fries.
This video is disgusting and extremely offensive, as Arbour bullies every woman, and man, and child who has ever had weight issues. Although we all have the right to express ourselves, there is nothing cool or interesting about cyberbullying. Especially not if it comes from ignorance and affects millions of people around the world.
Arbour is trying to be funny, but she goes about it the wrong way.
Vlogger, Meghan Tonjes responded to Arbour’s video saying how disappointed and upset she was about the context of the video. In tears, Tonjes responds by saying that she is saddened by the overall mindset that Arbour portrays, whether or not it’s a satirical video.
