The humorous documentary has already received more than five million views on Vimeo and has picked up multiple awards in several festivals around the world, including the Audience Award  Best Documentary at the Chicago Feminist Film Festival 2017.

"Like an iceberg, its biggest part is hidden inside the body," it starts off explaining, and later reveals that doctors once declared it as a completely useless organ.

Neglected and misunderstood

It was celebrated in ancient Greece but was then discredited by being completely removed in anatomical diagrams in 1974.

When it finally reentered medical knowledge during the scientific revolution (as a deformity, by the way), the knowledge had been dismissed during the Middle Ages, partly due to the difficulty of translation and confusion with the labia.

Dr Freud believed that the clitoral orgasm was immature and infantile and opined that the "elimination of clitoral sexuality is a necessary precondition for the development of femininity". In his view, clitoral sexuality was masculine in its nature.

He sure missed the mark on that one.

According to Alicia D. Bonaparte, Professor of Sociology at Pitzer College, the inconspicuous nature of the discussion around the clitoris stems from it being solely a pleasure centre. While Scottie Hale Buehler, a PhD Candidate in UCLA's Department of History, argues and agrees that the organ "embodies many misogynistic fears about sexual pleasure: that penetration and penises may not even be necessary for orgasm."

Unlike the varied and incorrect stances scientists have taken over hundreds of years, this cheeky, educational animation also agrees that the clit is, in fact, the only organ in the human body dedicated exclusively for pleasure.

So, men, this is for you:

It's about time the obscurity of this subject was addressed, and we think this illustrative documentary has done a fantastic job at creating an entertaining analysis that unveils the makeup and history behind the distinct female organ of sexual pleasure.

And so, here's everything you didn't know you need to know about the misunderstood organ, all summed up in the cutest and shortest animated documentary.
