Cardi is due to give birth to her first daughter with husband Offset any day now, but since taking a step back from work to focus on the last days of her pregnancy, she’s noticed that she’s been craving junk food a lot more than usual.

On Twitter, Cardi revealed that she was craving Doritos with sour cream, cheese and gaucomole, but couldn’t have any because she already had her “limit of junk food today”.

But why do we crave junk food? Especially when we start eating healthy?

Well, there are two reasons according to Fit Yourself Club. One being that you’re probably addicted to sugar and it plays tricks with our mesolimbic pathways which are reposnsible for the feel good hormones like dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin. Which is also why you crave sugar when you’re sad – it gives you a high.

The second reason is stress. Basically chronic stress activates our sympathetic system and when we don’t turn it off by releasing stress, it makes us crave things to comfort us.

So no wonder Cardi B is craving lots of junk food. She’s about to have her first baby, she can’t work right now to take her mind off things and she’s famous so she has all these people wanting things from her. Plus, her hormones are probably out of whack. I would be eating a lot of junk food too, tbh.

But maybe it’s a really good thing that she’s also really limiting her self because Mom Junction warns of eight different harmful effects eating junk food while pregnant could have on your baby, including increased risk of allergies and excess weight gain which could lead to complications.
