A horrific attack means a Russian man needs to be reintroduced to his beautiful blonde fiancée every single day – just like in the film 50 First Dates.

Sergey Ignashinm (30) wakes up every day not knowing he proposed to Darya Piterya (23) and has to be told that not only are they a couple but they have moved to Moscow together and are engaged to be married.

Medics confirmed he suffered a blow to the head but police refused to investigate, saying they had been told he fell over while leaving a club. But now CCTV footage has emerged showing him being brutally assaulted by a nightclub bouncer.

The tragic story echoes the classic 50 First Dates film in which Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore need to be reintroduced every day because she is constantly locked in the past after a car accident.

"Every day I get reintroduced to her again,” Sergey says. “I do not know why I have picked her. I have to learn it all over again."

The couple had been dating for three years when the incident happened in April 2017.

Sergey was allegedly attacked by bouncer Dmitry Yavrintsev as he left the Rio Grand nightclub in the city of Podolsk in western Russia's Moscow Oblast region.

He was left with severe amnesia but police and medical experts reportedly tried to convince him that he had hurt himself leaving the club while drunk.

However, CCTV evidence and eyewitness accounts later showed that he had been felled by a single kick to the head by a bouncer, said to be Yavrintsev, for allegedly breaking a shisha pipe.

Court forensic expert Irina Danilia has now confirmed her belief that Sergey's injuries were caused by the nightclub bouncer.

It is a boost to the hopes of Sergey and Darya, who still live in Moscow, in their battle to have Yavrintsev jailed for the severe injuries he allegedly inflicted.

The video shows Sergey leaving the nightclub and being knocked out cold after receiving a kick to the head from a doorman.

It shows him walking away from the man when he was attacked, posing no threat. His friends, who were waiting in a nearby car, ran to his aid and tried to revive him.

"Sergey wasn’t drunk, he didn’t even finish his cocktail,” Darya says. He wasn’t trying to fight. This is ridiculous: Sergey is 170 cm tall, while all the bouncers are massive 2m tall beasts."
