How I became an eNCA Sports Anchor

accreditation

Wardah Hartley is no ordinary reporter and anchor, having almost single-handedly reshaped the stereotype of news and sports reporting in South Africa.

With her intelligence, as well as bubbly and captivating personality it’s almost unsurprising that at just 19 she became the youngest national TV news reporter in the country with eTV Cape Town.

Wardah started her voyage into the world of journalism at the tender age of 18, where her drive, professionalism and zeal led to her making an impact very early on in her career. Yet it was her passion for fitness and sport that took her on a new path.

At 20 when most of us are still discovering what we want to do with our careers, Wardah set about redefining the world of Sports reporting; a part of the journalism industry that was largely male dominated.

Bringing a young, fresh, youthful exuberance to this niche reporting she quickly became a force to be reckoned with.

In 2005 she broadened her horizons and became a Senior Specialist Reporter at the SABC.

The next two years of her career was spent travelling around the country covering a wide variety of stories, success was beckoning again when regional radio station Good Hope FM offered her a position as co---host and news anchor.

She introduced listeners to a quirky and more humorous Wardah which resonated well with fans. Soon after Wardah was commissioned to co-host and produce a weekly sports and lifestyle show called "The Power Hour".

As if the challenge of crossing over from TV to radio was not enough, she worked full time at British American Tobacco South Africa as their Communications Manager.

This break allowed her to interact with Industry leaders and put her back on the Enews Channel Radar.

In 2011 Wardah moved to Johannesburg, where she was offered the opportunity to be a Sports Anchor for Enews Channel Africa, where her phenomenal career began. Wardah is also poised to make her mark in the radio world as her presenting skills know no bounds.

Ever the over achiever, Wardah has fallen in love with not only bringing sports to the nation, but trying as many of them herself.

She is a brand ambassador for S.W.E.A.T 1000 and PhysiqueInt Global. She has also started a fantastic health and wellness initiative called Fabufit, which is sure to take off.

With her determination, there is no doubt that this is one media personality we should all keep our eyes on as the future holds many exciting opportunities for her.
