Happiness at work is…

A happy client or publication, or even when we have a very successful event and great product placements.

Why is it important for you to be happy at work?

I spend most of my time here, if I’m not happy at work then everything else in my life is affected.

Founder and CEO of Hse of BespokeWaseefa Hutton

How has your style changed since the establishment of the Hse of Bespoke?

My style has evolved, becoming more sophisticated, chic and classic. I always try my best to look polished as a fashion designer and entrepreneur. Although I dress modestly, my approach to fashion can be summed up as minimal chic. I tend to stick more to solids over prints, but I'm not afraid to try bold statement colours by staying true to myself.  Being authentic is key, I believe.

What has been the most fulfilling aspect of your job?

Starting a business with just R500 years ago. I believed that the most fulfilling part of my journey was the opening of the Hse of Bespoke boutiques. A dream that I had at just 16 came to realisation and I feel exceptionally blessed with my achievement with the help and grace of God. PS: dreams do come true – keep believing!

Model Booker at Boss Modelling Agency Tshidi Semakale

How has the modelling industry changed in the last few years, and what qualities do you look for in aspiring models?

More clients are appreciating models in their most natural form.  We have found that models of colour don’t have the pressure of wearing weaves anymore. Clients are more open to booking models with their natural hair which has become quite a trend.

What do you wear to work?

I love feeling comfortable, I love my track pants and sneakers. There are days when one has to dress up a little. I love a dress, – not tight-fitting – that gives me the freedom to breathe. If I could, I would work in my pyjamas!

Celebrity Make-Up Artist Faith Seoue

What gets you up in the morning?

I still wake up with a childlike enthusiasm to participate, learn and grown every day in this industry and beyond.

The ultimate beauty tips you swear by?

It all starts with a well-cared for skin, so eat healthily, drink lots of water, know your skin, find the right colour foundation for your complexion, right texture for your skin type and lifestyle. Invest in learning how to do a go-to everyday face beat. Don’t forget to always use sunscreen.

Internal media communications at fashion week Sandy Kass

Fashion week season's your most busiest time, how do you unwind away from the pressures of work?

A little retail therapy and the calm app.

What has your work taught you about style?

Minimalism and when in doubt, wear black.
