Serena Williams is the only woman on the list that features 99 male athletes, including top earner, Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion raked in $29.2M (R 431 million) in the past year.

The amount raises her net worth up to $225 million (R 3.3 billlion).

Most of her money comes from prize money, having amassed $89 million (R 1.3 billion), more than twice as much as any other female athlete.

The wife to Reddit co-founder Alexis Alexis Ohanian, and mom to Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, also makes serious money from her endorsements deal with companies including Nike, Pepsi and Beats by Dre.

On the entrepreneur front, she started her own line called, Serena in 2018.

She also has multiple investments, including a stake in NFL side Miami Dolphins, she has invested in 34 start-ups over the past five years, worth at least $10 million (R 147million) and she is focused on companies founded by women and minorities, which is where 60% of the investments have gone so far.
