Media personality Kamo Bombe can barely contain her excitement about being back in the farming industry.
This is after the TV presenter’s farm was broken into and she lost her livestock and some farm material.
“After the incident I was traumatised,” she affirms.
The actress was farming chicken for eggs in the south of Joburg but after the incident, she didn’t feel safe and decided to pack up and leave.
“The issue we had there was no security and the farmland was quite close to a squatter camp,” she says.

She adds, “I also needed to go because it was just one hector of land. I now have a lot more to do the things I want to do,” she explains.
The former Shift presenter has received land from the rural development department in Bronkhorstspruit, east of Tshwane and has diversified her farming from just chickens to now including vegetables.
“The department is leasing us 21 hectors of land. I am very excited about what the future holds because we need more people in secondary agriculture. I want to help smaller farmers with access to market,” she says.
Kamo says she will continue to play her part in educating people about this sector. She promises that it will not just be theoretical but will give youth and those interested hands on experience of farming.

“I also plan to teach people that agriculture is not just growing things. Processing foods, packaging and all that are part of agriculture,” she says.
She says people should be on the lookout for her ‘Farming in Heels’ seminars which are aimed at women in the agriculture sector in August.
Her TV fans can also breathe a sigh of relief because she’s not lost to farming as she continues with her TV work on weekends. “I am not leaving TV at all, I have a show on MojaLove,” she shares.
