This time a video of a young woman doing a traditional IsiZulu dance went viral after it was posted on the university's Facebook page.
The video which at the time of publishing has over 120 000 views is of 21-year-old Zandile Shange who is a Bachelor of Social Science graduate. Zandile danced to the podium looking colourful in her traditional Zulu attire.
Speaking to Drum about her experience the graduate says, “I am excited. People are congratulating me. I am famous.”
Zandile who was clad in a traditional attire underneath her graduation gown says she has been planning for this day. “I got someone to make the outfit for me because I am proud of being Zulu,” she says laughing.
The Eshowe born graduate says she wished her mother was there to witness her success. “My mother passed away in 2014, and my dad couldn’t come through because he lives in Eshowe. But I had my two sisters and their children.”
Zandile is currently doing her honours degree at the university. She says she is writing her exams on Friday.
“There is no time to relax. I have to hold my excitement now because I have to focus on my upcoming exam on Friday.”
She is currently pursuing a master’s degree before she can practise as a psychologist.
