‘Pay now and I’ll cover you next time’
You have a great relationship with one your friends and whenever you aren’t able to pay your share she covers for you and vice versa. For some friends, this works if it’s communicated prior and not brought up at the dinner table.
Split evenly
Have you ever ordered the smallest and cheapest meal on the menu because you’re working on budget and then ended up paying twice the amount? Unfair right? This is ideal when you all order the same meal or share a platter.
Pay for what you ordered
If it means grabbing the bill and calculating separately what you need to pay then so be it, as long as you don’t end up paying more than what you ordered. You’ll add the same amount that everyone is contributing towards the tip and not a cent more.
Asking for separate bills
This works best if you’re all using different methods of payment. Some people hardly carry cash so using separate bills will help them swipe for their share and not have to worry about carrying money.
Top up the bill
There’s always that one friend who feels you didn’t tip the waiter enough so they top it up. It’s not done to make anyone feel bad, they’re just overly considerate towards waiters, petrol attendants or anyone providing excellent service.
The run away type
This friend never informs her friends that she won’t be able to pay, instead, she always runs away to the bathroom when it’s time to pay. It could be that she’s taking advantage or her kind hearted friends or she generally doesn’t like paying her own bill.
