Undisputed kings of South African football Mamelodi Sundowns are offering five internships in various departments for five months with an option to renew and potentially join the staff at the club’s training base and headquarters in Chloorkop permanently.
Sundowns chairperson Thlopie Motsepe made the announcement dubbed Live Limitless Internship Programme on Wednesday at an event attended by the club’s supporters, journalists, influencers, staff, legends and ambassadors Teko Modise and Tiyani Mabunda at Chloorkop.
The champions displayed their three trophies – the DStv Premiership, MTN8 and Nedbank Cup – and allowed all in attendance to spend some time in the club’s change room.

Motsepe said the club was looking for five interns:
Interested candidates must be aged between 18 and 34 and are encouraged to visit Sundowns official website www.sundownsfc.co.za to register their details and choice of a position they are applying for.
Motsepe said the Live Limitless Internship Programme initiative was part of Sundowns’ contribution to addressing youth unemployment in South Africa.
“We’re very excited as a football club to be able to unveil our youth internship programme,” said the 33-year-old son of CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who took over as chairperson after his father was elected as the continental governing body’s boss in March last year.

“It’s a first of its kind and we’re hoping that we can use this platform to give young people and students to get work experience. They’ll do that by working at our football club for five months in five departments.
“We feel it is also our responsibility as a football club to try and help young people with this initiative.”
Motsepe shared the club’s plans for the new season and said winning the CAF Champions League topped their list of priorities.
Sundowns, who won their first Champions League in 2016 under former coach Pitso Mosimane, have crashed out at the quarterfinal stages in the last three editions under the coaches Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela.
Said Motsepe:
“But I think there were a lot of positives we can draw from the way the team performed.”
Motsepe said another good season for Sundowns would set the tone for yet another successful campaign and lay a solid foundation for a record-extending sixth Premiership title.
“Last season we started very strongly and bagged the MTN8 and that had a positive effect on the team. I think where we would look to strengthen obviously is making sure that as soon as we get out of that group stages of the Champions League the mentality must shift.
“We must be a bit more ruthless. And I know that our coaches, along with the sporting director, are working already and thinking about how we can improve. So, we are very positive and optimistic about the season ahead.”
