It is particularly pertinent because the combined labour movement or, at least, a major part of it, has come together to stage a protest next Wednesday, dubbed the International Day for Decent Work by the International Trade Union Confederation. Labour will seek ways to preserve jobs as business seeks more post-Covid-19 ways of shedding them for “operational reasons” under section 189 of the Labour Relations Act.
