Controversial businessman Hamilton Ndlovu’s cars were not part of the auction that was held by Park Village Auctions on Wednesday morning as planned.

The anxiously awaited auction was postponed until further notice, said the auctioneers on Wednesday morning.

The flashy supercars he bought in one day included a Lamborghini Urus, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, a Porsche Panamera GTS Sport, and a Porsche Cayenne S Coupe to a value of over R10 million. Registrations for the national auction were opened last week at R7 000 deposit per bidder.

A notification next to Ndlovu’s car read:

Withdrawn (The curator-bonis has postponed the auction sale of the executive vehicles in the matter of Hamilton Ndlovu to a date yet to be confirmed. Subject to creditor ratification and legal process) - Apologies for any inconvenience.

Speaking to City Press, a worker at the Park Village Auctions said the cars were handled by the liquidators and they were sorting out a few things.

Another employee said the cars were still with them but did not know when exactly they would be auctioned. The employee added:

It is not us; the cars were withdrawn. We do not know when they will be back on auction—maybe after a month. Keep checking the website. It’s just when the car belongs to the bank, so when they say the car should be withdrawn, we do that. They have a right to do that. It was a last-minute withdrawal. We had no choice but to do so.

Ndlovu’s demise came after a Special Investigating Unit probe found that he fraudulently obtained some of his tenders.

The 34-year-old CEO of Hamilton Projects, who flashed his luxurious fleet of cars on social media two years ago, was said to have been awarded Personal protective equipment tender contracts worth R172 million from the National Health Laboratory Services in 2020 during the Covid-19 outbreak through eight different companies that were directly and indirectly linked to him.
