Often artists find themselves embroiled in unnecessary music rights drama, which could have been avoided by doing a little research or asking the right questions. Amapiano is a fast-growing genre and most of the songs are samples or remakes. But how many artists know the business side of the music or try to follow the right processes?

One artist who found himself in an unfortunate situation this week was Tebza De DJ for his viral song Ka Valungu. The DJ sampled the late Peta Teanet’s song Ka Valungu - African Vibe PT 2 - without the Teanet family’s permission.
