South Africa’s ability to contain the spread of Covid-19 infections by using a risk-adjusted strategy of moving between various lockdown levels could soon be rendered legally void if a court application by a civil society organisation succeeds.
This is a worrying prospect given that the country is experiencing the beginning of a third wave of infections and will need to implement measures to combat the alarming surge in daily infections.
