It is not often that people share their experiences online of taking daily medication to manage their HIV-positive status, while encouraging others to do the same and remain healthy. The stigma attached to the virus is still widespread and some people go as far as hiding the fact that they are being treated for it from their families and friends.

However, Mpho Mbeki – an HIV activist and a member of the Women Arising movement, who lives in the Eastern Cape – is defying the stigma and willingly sharing her journey of living with the illness.
