Big Nuz member Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo's sister Pinki Gumede says she feels alone following the passing of her mother, Zamanguni, less than a month after she buried her brother.

Maphumulo's mother, Zamanguni, passed away at Wentworth Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal at 11pm on Sunday. She was admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke three days following the musician's burial less than a month ago.

Speaking to City Press on Monday, Pinki described her mother as a "good mood" who taught them laughter even during her last hours.

Pinki said:

I am not okay at all. Yet another 'good mood' has left me. My mother was just like Mandla. She was a 'good mood', and she made us laugh even during her last days. I went to visit her during the day yesterday and her two friends who always visited her in hospital arrived during visiting hours and my mother saw one of them from a distance. Before her friend could even get to her bed, she called out her name and greeted her so loud and with so much cheer the entire ward could hear her and they both roared with laughter.

"That was how my mother was, and that was how she dealt with Mandla's passing. She did not want to focus on the pain. She joked a lot and told us not to make her sad. So, she never dwelt on his passing a lot because she wanted to see us laughing and feeling light even with her being in hospital."

Pinki and Maphumulo were Zamanguni's only children.

In a Tik-Tok video, which was widely and fondly shared following Maphumulo's passing, the star is seen joking on camera and referring to himself as a positive person by calling himself a 'good mood'.

In reference to the video, Pinki said:

Mandla called himself a good mood, but my mother was the queen good mood. She didn't teach us how to sulk or feel pity for ourselves. I don't want anyone to feel pity for me because I will be fine, eventually.

Zamanguni was surrounded by family members, including her grandchildren and Pinki, at the hospital when she passed away.

Pinki added that Zamanguni was sickly, but her condition worsened after learning of her son's passing. She got admitted after suffering a minor stroke. At the musician's memorial service and funeral, which were held in Durban last month, Zamanguni appeared frail and was walking with the aid of family members who held her arms on both sides.

Zamanguni became popular with the star's fans and that of his wife and musician, Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane, when she appeared on their reality television show Uthando Lodumo, which is broadcast on the online streaming site Showmax.

Maphumulo passed away last month after suffering a minor stroke after attending a gig in Durban. The muso was admitted to the King Edward Hospital and was later transferred to Durdoc Hospital where he passed away on Christmas Eve.

Simelane took to her social media pages and sent condolences to Zamanguni's family, "RIP, Gogo ka Sponge. Ungikhonzele kumyeni wami. Lala kahle, Magumede. Loosely translated, this means "RIP, Sponge's grandmother. Greet my husband. Rest in peace, MaGumede."

The two did not see eye to eye for a long time following the musicians' wedding but forgave each other at Maphumulo's funeral last month.

Pinki said the family's elders had not yet met to make memorial service and funeral arrangements that would be announced in due course.
