Having done research for her masters’ degree and gained insight into the spine-chilling challenges facing people with albinism, amid the myths, stereotypes and misconceptions attached to the rare genetic condition, Zandile Ngubane now wants to do more to alleviate their suffering.
Ngubane confessed that her research was an eye-opener for her and says that, until she started working on her paper at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, she did not even know that June 13 was designated as International Albinism Awareness Day.
