In its bid to recover the money, the unit has filed at least 50 civil cases with the Special Tribunal, to the value of R6.9 billion. Among the cases are 11 civil matters with a combined value of R259 million.

The cases are related to the supply and delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
