The new ANC national executive committee (NEC) signals a significant generation shift, with all 36 members making way for a fresh group of faces.

However, the older generation is still evident, as people who have served on the committee since the return of the ANC from exile, such as Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, have been given new five-year terms in the party leadership.
