Recently, City Press personal finance editor Maya Fisher-French and Banker X founder Koshiek Karan joined forces to offer their tips on not only planning for, but pulling off, your life’s Signature Moments with aplomb.

The webinar, entitled How About Now: Achieve Your Signature Moments, was supported by Standard Bank. The bank has been celebrating the Signature Moments of City Press readers, giving those who were featured a R5000 prize for sharing their life goals.  Among the winners are small business owners Abegail, a personal trainer who comes to you, and Scelo, who made his lifelong love of fashion his career, as well as Busi, who qualified as an international mountain biking instructor, and Prenisha who has turned her construction business around despite the challenge of lockdowns.

During the webinar, Fisher-French and Karan discussed the importance of having all the necessary information at your fingertips before taking big decisions such as buying a home or taking out a loan. They also covered the very important planning that needs to take place around retirement – especially if you want, as Fisher-French puts it, choices in your golden years. For example, having enough set aside for your retirement can make the difference when it comes to selecting where to live and similarly, Karan emphasised the importance of investing – not only focusing on paying off debts such as your home loan.
