Basha Uhuru is celebrating 10 years with an epic event programme.
Basha Uhuru will be celebrating 10 years of bringing South African culture and history to the youth at Constitution Hill, in Johannesburg, this year. After going virtual last year, the event organisers are ready to give the festival its original personal and in-contact flair from October 25-29.

This year's line-up includes some of South Africa’s most popular acts, such as Khuza Gogo hitmaker DBN Gogo, SA’s hottest rapping talent Blxckie, indie/folk sensation Msaki and Vogue Nights Jozi founder Lelowhatsgood.
And, if you thought that was all, this year, the festival will host an epic event programme that will give attendees personal insight into the country's history at Constitution Hill, one of South Africa’s main museums that bring to light the tumultuous history that brought forth democracy. Festival goers will even have the opportunity to grow and elevate their creative talents with workshops and panel discussions.
Founded in 2012, Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival’s vision was to memorialise the South African youth who fought for their rights during the violent but historic Soweto uprising in 1976, by telling the young people of today more about the country's history and giving them the tools to thrive in any climate.
Here’s what you can expect at this year’s festival:
Each day will serve a different purpose and will include industry professionals in each field of business, design, art and music.
October 25: Business
DIY and co-create – Business-building workshops and panel discussions – product development; sales; business management and more.
Idea’s Tan, which will be happening every day at the women’s jail.
Sunset sessions will take place every day in the chill zone.

These will serve as hands-on workshops, where creative entrepreneurs can learn from industry professionals. They will include in-depth information on strategies for business growth, empowering one’s self and their business, marketing, business planning, design, social media, public relations and more.
October 26: Design
Materials and the choices designers make.
Panel discussions about patterns and how they can be utilised within design elements.
The SA design industry and the opportunities it represents.
Panel discussions with different professionals who will share their knowledge of the fashion and design industry.
Film screenings.

October 27: Art
Artist identity - finding out who you are as an artist in today’s climate.
Growing beyond borders – connecting with new audiences, collaborating with different artists, and sharing personal stories.
Case studies into different choices designers make and patterns you can learn from.

October 29: Sounds of Freedom Music Festival
The event will end with the Sounds of Freedom Music Festival, which will give space to up-and-coming artists to share the stage with and learn from bigger acts in the industry.
