Fresh from winning at their maiden All Africa Music Awards (Afrima), South African duo Blaq Diamond believe this is the beginning of good things to come.
Despite winning only one from their eight nominations, the pair –Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, who walked away with the best male artist in Southern Africa award – say they are ready to conquer the continent and believe the award will open more doors for them.
The award ceremony was held in Lagos, Nigeria, last weekend.

The international award comes as they are making their mark on the continent and continue to cement themselves in the music industry. This year they had gigs in Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Malawi. They are set to visit Zimbabwe before the year ends.
The Ladysmith-born artists have recently released a single titled Italy, with a music video shot in Tanzania.
They were also featured on Tanzanian Alikiba’s third album, which was released a month ago.
The duo were not the only South Africans to walk away with an award.
Crowd-favourite Makhadzi, who also set the stage on fire with her performance, won the award for best artist, duo or group in African electro for her song Murahu.
Mali’s Iba One was the biggest winner of the night, with five awards, while Nigerian artist Wizkid walked away with three awards. Kenya’s 13-year-old artist Shanah Manjeru made history by becoming the youngest Afrima winner.
