Nerves are kicking in for award-winning musicians Busiswe “Cici” Thwala and Donald Moatshe, who are almost two weeks away from their first live show together.
After four years of collaborating on amazing love songs, the two announced in March that they would be hosting The Love Tour at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City, Johannesburg.
Ukhozi FM’s Unplugged sessions birthed the concert idea, Thwala said, and it was the station manager who suggested that she and Moatshe consider a tour and give their supporters what they wanted.
“We were doing an unplugged session on Ukhozi FM, and the manager said ‘there is no way people cannot hear what I just heard on radio, you guys need to do a tour’. It started there, and the rest is history,” said Thwala and Moatshe who added that they were each other’s muses.

“Now, we are on our way to rehearsals for the show.
“I am nervous and excited. I think it is very different from what the South African market has brought in the past. Donald seems to be in his comfort zone, he is on some ‘no I got you’ vibe. I think for me, it works that I am doing it with someone who has the experience. My anxiety levels are not too bad right now,” said Thwala.
Moatshe added he had to balance things out:

Relationships need work
The two said that they believed that they had a connection, although like any relationship, things would get shaky and they had to work on it all the time. They stressed that even on bad days, they remembered that they were in a partnership. They also mentioned that they did not have to over-emphasise boundaries because they respected each other in and outside their working relationship.
They are South Africa’s ‘Babyface and Tony Braxton’; their collaboration works perfectly well and they might as well consider being a duo.
The multifaceted artists said Thwala, who rebranded after signing with Ambitiouz Entertainment, was the reason they would have 10 dancers on stage.

They said they had about five new songs that were supposed to be released as an EP, and those coming to The Love Tour could expect to hear some of the songs. Thwala and Moatshe said the creativity on stage, choreography, wardrobe and visuals would transport people to their own world.
“By the time we are done with the last song, people would have been on a journey with us, we would have taken them through every kind of emotion,” said Moatshe.
The Love Tour is scheduled to take place on August 26 at the Lyric Theatre. It features Metro FM’s Khutsho Theledi as the MC. Other fan favourites are poet Zamoh Cofi and Peter “DJ Mashata” Mabuse.
