Dear men, you can do your makeup. We are heading to 2023!
International makeup artist Sheika Daley, who dolls up global stars, including Zendaya and Kelly Rowland, says there is nothing wrong with men putting on makeup. In fact, she advises it.
Speaking at the Lancôme makeup master class held at The Westcliff Four Season hotel this week, Daley said that even though the trend of men doing makeup is taking time to take off, it would be nice to see men embracing the other side of beauty.
Daley added:
"It has just been used for grooming purposes for men unless they like to go for a full beat, which is something a little different. But if men are using makeup, it should be invisible.
"It should be just under the eye, spots concealing, some powder to take away the shine and just to brush their eyebrows.
"I have never really done mascara on a man unless he is getting a full beat for drag (dressing up). For the most part, just invisible makeup."

However, it does not look like the trend of men wearing makeup will pick up at grand speed because at the moment, only just above 10% of macho men in the world have embraced the idea of wearing makeup, according to Lancôme.
The number is close to none in South Africa.
Daley said another contributing factor is that there isn't a makeup line that targets men only at the moment globally.
She added:
Daley is a celebrated international makeup artist and has worked with the likes of Serena Williams, Brandy and La La Anthony.
On sharing her experience, Daley explained that her most colourful moments in the beauty industry were when she worked at a strip club as a makeup artist.
"I did the dancers' makeup and that was when I learnt my technique of highlighting, contouring and playing with colours. It also taught me lighting and longevity because the girls would put their makeup on, go on stage to dance and do their thing. I needed to know what lasted longer because they were not going to come back to me in the middle of the night to get brushed up. That is what then led me to celebrities and performers because I learnt some techniques that would last a long time when they are on stage,” she said.
