It has only been in operation for a year, but Martha Griffiths Community Health Centre in Port Nolloth in the Northern Cape – a state facility – has run out of medicines and cleaning supplies and has turned to charitable South Africans for help.
The hospital committee has appealed to taxpaying members of the public to dig deep into their pockets and donate Panado syrup, surgical gloves, urine drainage bags, catheters, paraffin gauze, and medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, among other essentials.
The appeal was made in a WhatsApp broadcast message, which News24 has seen.
