TV presenter Minnie Dlamini is ready to be in the hot seat as the next celebrity to be roasted on ‘The Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini’.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s Laugh Africa Comedy Festival in Rosebank on Thursday evening, Dlamini said she would bare all and not hold back on anything.

When radio and TV personality Mthokozisi “Mablerh” Cele asked her if she would not mind if her divorce was mentioned, the former Homeground presenter revealed that she was not divorced yet.

“Today actually marks the day, two years ago, when I announced my split. Don’t clap, I’m still not divorced,” she laughed.

The Becoming Mrs Jones star said she would not mind having comedians Nina Hastie, Skhumbuzo Hlophe, whom she said would rip her to shreds, and Tumi Morake.

She said:

I want it to be entertaining, I want people who are going to get the audience excited about the things they are going to say and how they are going to take the jokes. We want a good show, we don’t want an ugly show, [but] an entertaining one. You can see when it gets personal and when someone goes off-script. Sometimes we dig in, and everybody loves a little bit of a mess, but what I love about the roast is that it is about celebrating comedy.

She added that she would not mind having regular celebrities who were not comedians.

“For me, it’s about the unexpected. What I love about the roast is that outside of seeing the comedians do what they do, you want to see your favourite celebrities take a dig at each other. I just want to see who is brave enough to put themselves in the spotlight. I mean I am, so let’s go,” she said.

Dlamini said her Mzansi Magic show, Curated, showcased her sense of humour, adding that the roast would extend that side of herself.

She said people should be scared to come for her because she would go for them.

“For us to get big, we needed to get big guns to make it happen. The people that made it happen are our sponsors, Showmax and Savanna. Thank you so much to you guys. This is really a rebrand because we existed as the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival before, and now we are coming with a big bang for the fifth-year milestone of it. We rebranded because the dream is not just Johannesburg or South Africa, but it is the whole continent,” he said.
