A tug-of-war has occurred between a prominent podcaster and his baby mama, following the opinion leader’s refusal to allow her to relocate their children to the foreign country where she currently resides and works.
The woman, who previously lived in Johannesburg, has approached the Johannesburg High Court, seeking an order to relocate the children to the country.
She argues in her court application that the father is disregarding the best interests of their children by not giving his consent for their relocation.

“The respondent and I began a committed relationship in 2010. At the time, I was registered to complete my bachelor’s degree and was sharing student accommodation with my brother in Johannesburg. The respondent was living in a student commune close by. Shortly after our relationship commenced, I fell pregnant…” read her court papers, filed on June 26.
Their relationship, she wrote, began to deteriorate in 2021, when she moved into her parents’ home in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.
“After the respondent physically abused me, I moved into my parents’ home. By that stage, the respondent was already involved in a relationship with another woman, whom he had impregnated. She had a miscarriage and later applied for a protection order against him,” reads her affidavit.
She added that she and the podcaster had rekindled their relationship after she had found a job, by which time she had given birth to their second child.
“I looked for suitable accommodation for the four of us, without assistance from the respondent, to no avail. The respondent contributed financially towards the costs of my pregnancy and delivery, as well as rental, while I contributed my salary for food, clothing for the children and necessary household items. Both the respondent and I cared for the children to different extents,” she wrote.

She further cited that, during this time, she learnt that the father had again impregnated another woman.
“Our financial difficulties included payment of arrear rent while we lived in the respondent’s student apartment. His mother contributed one-third of her early retirement pension payment to the respondent in order to relieve our dire financial situation. Instead of utilising these funds to move the four of us to more spacious and family-friendly accommodation, the respondent utilised the funds to launch a taxi and removal business. He also loaned large sums of money to third parties who were never capable of repaying them,” she wrote.
The father of the child is known for his work as an author, influencer, speaker and general adviser. He amassed a large following on various social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. He is known to constantly post videos on various topics, including current affairs, finance, parenting and other societal issues.
These videos have attracted between 10 000 and 150 000 views on YouTube.
A legal expert told City Press that, in these circumstances, the court would take into consideration that both parents were entitled to have access to the minor children.
