Actor Vuyo Dabula is set to make a return to SABC1 after his exit on Generations: The Legacy, where he played Gaddafi.

He will join SABC1's most watched soapie Uzalo as Bentley Majozi who is said to be coming with drama and suspense.

Speaking to City Press, Dabula said the Uzalo cast was welcoming and professional.

Incredibly generous cast, and easy people to work with. There must be something in the water because the whole production team has a great vibe, very welcoming and deeply supportive. Another thing about work is the level of professionalism and understanding of the craft - of storytelling - in all aspects of filmmaking.

On why he wasn't on TV for a while, the actor said:

I was pretty much forced to take a break because I sustained injuries in a near death situation. I could not physically do much.

However, he did not want to share more details of what happened, he said: "I don't talk much about personal things."

Dabula joins as the booked and busy Wiseman Mncube prepares for his exit. Fans can start preparing heartfelt goodbyes to the hot-headed Sbonelo.

Last week, it was reported that Mncube, who was on Shaka iLembe and plays Mandoza in the musician’s biopic, allegedly handed in his resignation.

It is unclear why the actor decided to part ways with the show after being with them since 2018. The actor is also on the cast of My Brother's Keeper, a soapie set to replace Gomora next month.

Also leaving at the end of the ninth season is Nkanyiso Mchunu, who joined Uzalo in January.

Mchunu portrays the character of Wizard, who is Sbonelo’s friend. He is a technology whiz who scams people in partnership with Sbonelo through card cloning and money laundering.

Uzalo’s series producer David Mukwevho said it was incredible working with Mncube and Mchunu. He added that the two had amazing chemistry on screen.

Mukwevho said they were thankful for Mncube and Mchunu’s contributions to Uzalo’s success, even though saying goodbye was not easy.

Without revealing too much, the producer said the pair’s exit will be epic.

Also joining Uzalo next season are soccer star Andile Jali’s ex-wife Nonhle Jali and Real Housewives of Durban’s Slindile Ndlovu and Ntokozo Vilakazi.

SABC1’s Channel Head Ofentse Thinane said they were thrilled with welcoming these talents to the show.

We are excited about the incredible journeys their characters will embark upon. The introduction of these new characters is a testament to our commitment to storytelling excellence.
